"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with our league position. Knowing the players I had in the team, I had high hopes. But it was always going to be a difficult season for us, we have a lot of young players and we had to get sued to each other and the league. The standard is high and we fell short".
Yet it seems he is slightly optimistic going forward, "having said that, we showed signs of real class at times, and I know that with more time together and on the pitch we will start to improve. There is a lot of potential in the team and if you compare the beginning our season to the latter part of the season, there is growth".
But for the boss, standing still is not an option. Now the season has ended, Millist has made it clear that he expects a lot more from his players. "Now that we have had our 'training season', there are no more excuses for my players. I will continue to encourage them, thats just my style but I also won't hesitate when the level I expect isn't met.
To play for Monyhull, you are expected to give 110% to the team on and off the pitch, attitude is just as important as ability. Any players upsetting the team spirit will be dropped. On the pitch my players must run their socks off! We must defend from the front, learn to hold the ball and maybe score a goal or two! We must communicate a lot more, encourage each other. We must also be more disciplined, not get involved with the opposition when they start mouthing off. If any player can't hit these objectives, they will be dropped.
My expectations are raised because everybody knows the level expected, there are no excuses now. Anybody I don't think is putting there all in, will be out".
With Monyhulls new policy of inviting players to be registered, it remains to be seen who is on the managements shortlist for next season.
