"A good AGM last night: Some bits and bobs to report:
The league now has 33 teams for the coming season, split into three divisions of 12, 11 and 10. We decided to have 12 in Division One and 10 in Division Three, rather than 11, 11 and 11, as there will only be one team with the week off, as opposed to three.
We welcome in four new teams, Chawn Hill Church (the current Chawn will now be known as Chawn Hill), Wollaston Free Athletic, Zion City and Lighthouse Athletic. Four teams have left us, CC Sporting, Lighthouse Lions (folded during the season), St Matthew's and Beacon Church. MBD United were voted in at last years AGM but didn't start the season.
So, Division One loses CC Sporting, Lighthouse Lions. King's and Wolves and Perton were relegated. We promoted four sides: Selly Oak as champions, Sandwell, Common Ground and Rockmount.
Brierley Hill were relegated from Division Two and St Matthew's left. Four teams were promoted: All Saints Olympic as champions of Division Three, St Thomas, Dynamo and Darkhouse make up the eleven.
There will be ten teams in Division Three: Brierley Hill from Division Two, Pye Green, Dudley Lions (formerly Revival Fires), Charlemont, Monyhull and Maple Leaf and the four new teams.
The League Cup will be a straight knock-out; with 33 teams in the competition, two unlucky sides are drawn into a prelim to shave the entrants down to 32 for the first round. We drew the names out of the hat and St Mary's will play St Thomas.
The First Round draw is as follows: Darkhouse v Chawn Hill, Pye Green v Rockmount, Monyhull v Wollaston, Brierley Hill v Rowley College, Wolves and Perton v Sandwell, Selly Oak v Lighthouse, City Church v Halesowen, Living Hope v Corinthians, Zion City v All Saints, Renewal Solihull v Clarendon, Zion Athletic v Dudley Lions, Bournbrook v St Thomas or St Mary's, Dynamo v Chawn Hill Church, Amblecote v Maple Leaf, Charlemont v Sheldon, Common Ground v King's AFC.
At the pre-AGM management meeting, we did have a plan to have 12 teams in D1&2 (22 games each) and 10 teams in D3 (18 games). We were then going to make up the four games for D3 sides by organising a secondary cup made up of two groups of five, guaranteeing every team 23 (including cup games). Then one of the new clubs changed their mind at the eleventh hour (it was about 12:30 actually).
So the yet to be named cup (answers on a postcard) for D3 will still proceed. The two groups are: Group A: Pye Green, Wollaston, Dudley Lions, Lighthouse and Chawn Hill Church. Group B: Monyhull, Brierley Hill, Maple Leaf, Zion City and Charlemont. The top two teams will progress to semi-finals and a final.
So Division Two sides will have slightly fewer games than the other two divisions, but we felt that keeping an extra two sides occupied each week was the preferable option."
